Feedback on the HP ProBook 440 G7 Notebook PC (202005-27901)

Asked by Maxwell

Hi,

I'm glad to see, that it is possible to install Ubuntu on an HP ProBook 440 G7.

I've bought an HP ProBook x360 435 G7 and unfortunately up to now, I've always a black screen when I want to start Ubuntu in the regular mode.

In the recovery it runs much better; but the resolution is limited to 1024 x 768.

I've tried to get help from AMD and from HP. Both suppliers are not able to help.

Is it possible to get help from your team?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards
Maxwell

Hi Maxwell,

Does your system have an AMD graphics card? It looks like this system was certified with the Intel graphics, without a discrete AMD GPU.

Hi Chris,

sorry for being late.

I have found the reason for my problems.

It is necessary to disable both: Legacy Mode and Secure Boot. I had
disabled only Secure Boot.

So I was able to install Ubuntu; but I could start it only in the
recovery mode.

Since I have disabled the Legacy Mode everything runs well.

Sorry that I didn't update my Question in this forum; I'm just pretty
happy that everything is fine now.

Thanks a lot for your help/interest.

Best regards

Maxwell
