Feedback on the Dell Inspiron 11-3162 - Rocket BSW

Asked by Tony

Web page: http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201511-20043/ refers to
"Disk Unknown SanDisk Z400s 2.5 7MM 128GB"

The unit I just purchased has 32GB of eMMC flash storage, and currently Windows 10.
Can I expect to be able to install Ubuntu in its place?

Hello,

Storage device is unlike to cause comparability issues with Ubuntu, you can first try it out with a LiveUSB.
Do you want to dual boot it? Or just overwrite Windows?

Thanks

I have yet to determine if I can boot from a USB stick. I shall want to try dualboot B4 i wipe Windows (which I despise!). Thanks for assist - If it's just a matter of available space, I'm sure Ubuntu will be Go.

Hi
I was initially concerned that there may not be sufficient e-disk storage,
but this doesn't seem to be an issue, although Windows updates keep eating
more. There is currently over 6G free.
I shall try to dual boot, off the USB, but haven't been able to test this
yet due to other issues I have to deal with.
If it works, and once I know enough about all the drivers I need, I want to
wipe Windows!
Thanks
Tony

Hello Tony,
it's nice to hear back from you, please keep in mind that it's better to have 10 GB space available for Ubuntu with desktop environment [1].
It's better to make sure everything (things like suspend, Wifi, BT and etc.) works fine for you with LiveUSB, as this system was only certified with pre-installed Ubuntu.

Cheers
