Audio glitch

Asked by Israel Rodrigo Faria

Hi,

I recently bought this new laptop loaded with Ubuntu 14.04. It works fine as long as I don't upgrade. After doing a release-upgrade to xenial I started missing an dialog that appeared as soon as I connect a headset into 3.5mm jack. In 14.04 it showed me an option to choose if I was using only a phone or a complete headset (with mic). Now all that happends is that the speakers are muted but no sound come out of the phones. I figured out I could manually tweak things using alsamixer on terminal but that solution seems way too hacky for everyday use.

I tested a multitude of solutions including using latest intel-snd dkms drivers but no luck at all. It would be nice if Dell, now almost merged with EMC, and Canonical would spend some time to certify xenial on this system. I know there are multiple models and the process could be cumbersome but I don't want to be hanging out with obsolete OS version just because of this.

Thanks in advance to whomever this may reach to! I hope this gets answered!

Hi, this certification is certified with pre-installed image rather than the standard Ubuntu[1][2].

If you are using a standard Ubuntu, please file a bug report against your issue by following this instruction.[3]
If you are using a pre-installed image, please let me know. I will guide you to more support.
