Hello,

What version of Ubuntu are you running? Did you buy this system with Ubuntu pre-installed?

Hello

I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

starting the computer appears the message:
'the system is running in low-graphics mode' (screen, graphics card and
input device settings could not be detected correctly. You will need to
configure these yourself) -> ok -> 'what would you like to do? ->
recofigure -> how? -> use default: here the system hangs. On pressing
ctr-alt-del the system restarts with ubuntu which shows later an
internal error message, which may be ignored without consequences. The
system information shows the graphics card as 'unknown'.

Thanks for help!

Yes, but did your system come with Ubuntu pre-installed? Or you downloaded it from ubuntu.com?

Ubuntu was not pre-installed, I installed the downloaded version. A
first try with Ubuntu 12.10 did not work - it requested a
'root-password' for legitimation, which I could not find out, so I had
this version removed and Ubuntu 12.4 installed from a download. By the
way: the card-reader works, but is not recognized automatically when
booting, but only when I remove the card an put it in anew.

Clemens, currently, this system is only certified with the pre-installed version of Ubuntu.
We are working to certify it with stock Ubuntu soon. The linked FAQ can help you understand the differences of those two versions.
FAQ #2219: “What's the difference between Certified (Pre-Installed) and Certified?”.

Dear Ara

Thank you for your help. As you see I can get the system runnig,
although not so straightly as I would wish. But I can expect a fix for
this problem some time in the near future, is that right?

Again, thanks, and have good times!

Clemens,

You should try with 12.04.2 LTS and assuming it installs properly, apply all updates - this should fix the card reader issue, assuming the card reader model is the same as the one we're certifying.

Thanks,
