why can't i delete tasks

when i delete or cut a task it pops right back up on the list. how do i permanently delete a task?

First: are you on the latest version?

I do not have this problem. When I delete a task, it is gone. Is there anything weird about your setup? Did you get an error report? You could try removing the .ini to get back to default state, see https://answers.launchpad.net/taskcoach/+faq/1061
