further online-storage services for syncany??

Asked by Linuxexperte

I would like to know, if it would be possible to add further online-storage-services to Syncany like these ones:

servimg

minus

ubuntuone

Wishuload

tinypic

At some of them, I have an account and I would like to use these services instead of Google or something like that And a good friend of mine uses the service minus. I use Wishuload or tiniypic and servimg as well as ubuntuone.

So could you put in these services please??

I would like to sue this nice app, because it is really better than Dropbox. But: the online-storage-services I use are not in the list, so I already have put up a question referring to that.

So can you please integrate these?? With an integration of the mentioned services, Syncany would become a real alternative to Dropbox

Thanks much,

I would already be happy to (finally) see some code, let alone integration
with these services...

hi dear,

just follow this instruction here:

http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online/Blogs/Productivity-Sauce/Compile-and-Run-Syncany-on-Ubuntu-11.04

to install syncany on your system and after you installed this, you will find the code on your own system!!

This thing also runs with the packages openjdk6 installed. One does no longer need these sun-java-packages!! They have been dropped from disc. So just install these openkdk6-packages and the openjdk7-packages instead of these sun-java packages.

And then I hope, it will be possible to integrate these wished resources!!

Thanks for your effort!!

And I would also be happy, if the online-storage-service

Wuala

would also be integrated!!

Thanks in advance and please help the developers with your effort!!

Couple of reasons why your request isn't likely to be integrated:

- Servimg forbids it in its terms of service (non-image files are forbidden, and I don't suppose .img files count as images...)
- the Ubuntu One API already has a perfect client, if you really want it, you can use that one for the moment. Not really high priority I'd guess
- TinyPic forbids it in its terms of service (automated use is not allowed)
- Wishuload is a German site. If I were a dev on this project, I'd target English sites first. They are more likely to attract users...
- Wuala, Ubuntu One and minus are all closed-source. Thus, you cannot host your own server, which kind of goes against what I interpreted to be one of the reasons Syncany was created in the first place.

However, none of these reasons has to stop you from making it by yourself! (though I wouldn't try it with the picture sites

Besides all of that, as João already mentioned: the Syncany team hasn't shown us a lot of code lately... I gave up a little, and went for a good old ftpserver setup to sync my data.
