Quota for accounts

Asked by Everett Toews

Is it possible to configure a quota for individual accounts/users? How about across all accounts/users?

Thanks,
Everett

No, there are currently no quota features within Swift. Not to say it wouldn't be a desirable feature, just hasn't reached the top of anyone's list to implement.

Thanks gholt, that solved my question.

What's the best way to get this added as a feature request? Should I open a bug? Should I create a blueprint?

I know this isn't a high priority for big service providers but there is a need for it in the private cloud area. There was also more interest in this feature from https://answers.launchpad.net/swift/+question/175056

Thanks,
Everett

Hello, I'm also interesting to this topic that is it possible to invoke Swift API to send quota parameter. To clarify the quota is not for threshold of file/object size but for user/account as well. Looking forward to better solution even Swift core/api not support quota. :)

Brought this up at the OpenStack summit, during the Swift project update. Here are my notes

PTL doesn’t hear a lot of demand for it
PTL thinks that quotas should be in the auth system
There was a patch, which was rejected
        In short: not coming
