save a file of a scene for opining later

Asked by William Skelley

After creating a scene for a particular date and time, say September 9, 2018, how do I save it as a file so that I can open Stellarium to that time and date scene and continue using Stellarium to make changes?

I am not talking about a screen shot.

Please use Bookmarks (Alt+B) or save the settings and directions (after changes in Configuration/Time tab (F2))

Thanks Alexander for answering my question. I tried to use F2 and selected
"save view" but I expected a file save type window where I would create a
file name for my scene. I want to do this for several scenes of specific
times and dates to bring up one at a time for teaching.

Hmm. In your case better choice will be creating a few scripts with some initial settings and assignment the shortcuts for those scripts to quick access.

I need to go to bed as I work tomorrow. I just seems strange that I cannot open Stellarium to my default location and time. Then simply open a saved file file to a desired scene time and date for teaching.

Love Stellarium, but something simple seems to be missing or I can't figure it out. Will get into scripts tomorrow( see it at F12).

Thanks for your help.

The Guide explains command line arguments to start Stellarium at a particular location or time.
