cant delete a location entry

Asked by Clifford Peterson

I thought I was entering a Lat, Long, Elev for Eden, United States. The location was created but with totally bogus values. I've tried to update them - no success. I've tried to delete the entire entry - no success. I've tried to totally remove the program and reinstall - no success. The bogus entry for Eden, United State still exists. HELP - how can I get around this problem?????

If you use windows system the entry is stored in stellarium user data folder that has a path similar to: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium\data

the file name is: user_locations.txt

you can delete this file or just the entry for the added location.

To find the exact path, F1 for help window and log tab and the path will be in the first lines of the log

Eden, US is already in the database that is included with Stellarium. Entries in this database cannot be deleted.

I didn't find another Eden, United States but did find an Eden in a
different country. By Editing the bogus info in the Eden entry I was
able to correct the problem. Thanks for the assistance, its working
correctly now.

I deleted the User_Location.txt , that got rid of the "Eden" location. In looking at other entries with the same names but in different states I found something I hadn't done. I recreated our entry as Eden (Utah), United States wit the other correct information. That worked Fine. The problem was that I really didn't know how to make a unique location entry. When I corrected my error everything works as it should. Thanks again for helping me solve this problem and the problem can be closed.
