Time zone plugin doesn't work

Asked by Reid Tillery

In the Configurations window, Plugins, I have configured the time to be UTC, the display format to be 24, and the display format mm-dd-yyyy. I then close Stellarium, re-open it, but none of these changes take effect upon opening the program. Any suggestions? I did click Save Settings under the Time Zone tab. Thanks.

I did check "Load at Startup" for the Time Zone plugin.

I checked with stellarium 0.11.3 on windows vista. Plugin works. For the display formats the changes work dynamically. No need need to save settings and restart. For the Time zone, I saved the settings and checked sunrise and found the results ok. The sun rises at stellarium time 02:00 AM UT (05:00 AM) my local time.

check your config.ini file Localization section. It should have something like this after changes:

[localization]
app_locale = en
date_display_format = mmddyyyy
sky_culture = western
sky_locale = en
time_display_format = 12h
time_zone = SCT+0

I'm not sure what happened, but the Time Plugin seems to be working
properly now. Thanks for your help.

Now, I'm not sure what happened, but the Time Plugin is not doing what I think it ought to be doing. Here is the situation:

In the Configuration window, I selected under Navigation -- System Date and Time, the only thing that seemed to make sense. Under Plugins, for the Time Zone Plugin, I checked Load at Startup. Configuring the Time Zone Plugin, I Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). I clicked Save Settings, then went to the Main window in Configuration, and selected Save Settings. When I open Stellarium, I get the System Date and Time instead of UTC. I don't understand why I'm not getting UTC.

Any suggestions, anyone? Thanks

Problem solved. Although the local system time was appearing on the screen, the sun/stars were in their Zulu (UTC) time positions. Once I went to my local area, and went back to sunrise, the sun rose in my area rose at the correct time in Zulu time.
