stellarium Win 7 spherical distion crash

Asked by John Huft

I've got it figured out! I checked the Intel and HP sites this morning and both sites said I had the most up to date drivers. An hour later the 'puter told me there was a video card driver update. I downloaded and now it works great!
Thanks for all the help from everyone.

Have you tried to run Stellarium through the shortcut Start -> Programs -> Stellarium -> Stellarium (no OpenGL2)?

Hi John. Please could you try updating your video driver to the latest version from the manufacturer website? You'll have to find out what model video card you have of course, and make sure you get the right drivers.

Especially on Windows 7, OEM video drivers are still frequently very early driver versions ans have bad/missing OpenGL support, so sometimes and update helps.

That being said it is no guarantee.

You might also want to give the 0.10.6 beta a try.

http://launchpad.net/stellarium/0.10/0.10.5/+download/stellarium-0.10.6-beta-1-win32.exe

I don't know of any fixed bug which specifically address your issue, but you never know. There have been a lot of changes since 0.10.5.

Yes, I did. No joy either way. Another poster suggested version 10.6. I'm downloading it and giving it a try.
Thanks for your help,
John

Tried 10.6, still giving me fits...
Here's the log, I'll try to verify the video drivers from the Intel site. HP says they're up to date.
Thanks again,
John

Oh great! :-)

Don't forget to get the foll release when it comes out (should be in about a week). The release version will include more translations and a few extra bug fixes.
