Objects in the wrong positions

Asked by erik monteith

Hi, I live in Australia and have downloaded stellarium. I have set my location, but the position of the sun is in the wrong location, so I assume everything else will be out? Instead of the sun setting in the west it sets north east? Is there a setting which is wrong? If I change the time forward 6 or 7 hours it moves to the right spot, but then the system time is wrong?

think I might have fixed it. Changed my time zone, and things seem to have become more accurate.

my PC was set to the wrong time zone. the clock was right, but the time zone was GMT - 08:00 for the USA and Canada, when it should have been set at GMT + 10:00 for Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney

That's what I guessed, but it's very helpful to get a confirmation. Thanks. :)
