TDRS and Resource Satellites

Team. why won't Stellarium download TDRS, Resources satellites etc. please?

Second question can you enter deep space spacecraft such as Voyager, or Messenger etc., etc?

Hi Matthew,

TDRS is a network of geostationary spacecraft around the Earth.

Do you know if the TLEs are available on celestrak? If so, you can add the URL of the TLE update file to the config.ini file with the others, and then edit the satellites.json file to include them.

Matthew,

Yes they are all available. I don't quite understand the link in the file you refer to in your message. For each spacecraft that you want to track or observe does this mean that you have to add them individually to the satellies.json file. I have already added them to the system file?

Yes, at the moment that is the case...

You need to make sure that:

1. The source URL is set in the config.ini file, and
2. There is an entry in the satellites.json for each satellite.

The default satellites.json file comes with a selection of interesting satellites, but certainly not all interesting ones... if you want more in there you need to make your own custom satellites.json file.

In future there will hopefully be a GUI based method of doing this, but for now it's a manual process.
