How to restore a complete file system?

Hello,
I need to restore the complete file system of a deceased partition from a full and several incremental backups. How can I achieve that?
Booting into an external usb system, I'm only able to restore individual files; folders (e.g. /bin/ ) remain empty after attempting to restore or revert.
Thanks for your help,
pgs

You should be able to restore files and directories from your backup (if you've stored them). It is not possible to restore a file system at once. You'll have to create a fresh file system and then to restore your data. Please also read https:/
