Please, please help me to put this on my N220 with Lubuntu

Asked by Michael Davis

Hello,

I can see that in order to be able to switch off the backlight on my Samsung N220 I need to install samsung-tools . However, when I follow the instructions they don't work- the samsung-tools repository "is not found". I am really sorry but I don't know how to install it from the .tar.gz file. Could somebody *please* give me step-by-step instruction on how to do this?

If I have understood correctly the terminal route was taken away because on newer computers it could brick them. but i have a samsung n220 which I bought to use with a pixel qi display with the backlight switched off. but windows 7 is unusably slow, windows xp can't work the wi-fi or the keyboard correctly, so I am trying Lubuntu. I accept that I don't know what I am doing, but I just want to carry out the simple step of installing this thing. Can somebody please help with a step-by-step guide?

I am happy to copy and paste whatever into terminal, and download whatever. I think I have installed the newer "unofficial" ppa. But it still won't install samsung-tools using the command

sudo apt-get install samsung-tools

please- what do I have to do- I don't need to understand I just want to be able to switch off the backlight.
