When I try creating a list using the "-" it doesn't work

Asked by Todd Thackeray

When I follow the instructions for creating a list by using a "-" no list is created. I'm sure there must be a step that somehow I'm missing but I can't figure out what it is that I'm doing wrong. Also when I want to create a "To Do" list and right click on the " Add a Tag" button there is no drop down box that appears with that option. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated.

Please make sure you're using the latest version. Insert a list with
"Insert"->"List" and you'll see the required format. The right pane with
the "Add a tag" button is deprecated, just add #my_awesome_tag in the
main text area.

Jendrik,
Thank you for replying to my question. I see that for creating a list I was not giving one space between the hyphen and the start of the list. So that part of my question is solved. However I don't do Twitter so I don't understand hashtags at all. When I type in #my_awesome_tag in the main text area I can see that it highlights in red, but beyond that I can't see that anything else has happened or how that will now allow me to create a "To Do" list. Also hopefully I'm not taking advantage of this reply, but since my original question, I was trying to force a new line by using the "\\" and I couldn't get that to work either. Using my experience with "creating a list", I tried playing with getting the right amount of spaces between the \\ and the text , but I couldn't seem to find the right combination to make it work. Thank you for your time in helping me with these problems.

Newlines only work at the end of lines. I recommend using a separate app
for TODO lists (e.g. any.do). The current tagging system is not really
suited for this purpose anymore.
