Changed Annotations

Asked by Kathleen Ayala

I have been using RedNotebook for a few years and like it very much. I have used in with Windows Vista and different flavors of Linux. My current version of Linux is Linux Mint 13 Maya. I keep the journal on Dropbox as it is easier to maintain and access. The version of RedNotebook is 1.1.8-1 - the only version available in the distro.

My issue is that somehow the categories and tag annotation behavior changed and are different from the tags I have been using in previous versions. In the current version, I have to add a primary tag/category and a sub tag/category. In the previous version, I need only add on category and am not forced to add a sub-category as in the current version. As I have been using this for a few years and have a decent system going, I would prefer not to be forced to change all my tags/categories. I did not find a similar issue listed.
For instance, in previous versions, I could add Daily as a tag, but in this version, I am forced to add Daily - Journal.

Any help is appreciated.

You can install a newer DEB package from the repository linked from the
homepage. The newer versions support both hierarchical tags and standalone
tags.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I have attempted to get a different version than offered by the distro for a couple years and usually not successfully.
