How to sort tracker

Asked by dikei

Since libtorrent currently only check one tracker at a time, it's better to have the tracker with the most peer on top.
However, I can't find a way to change the order of the tracker list.

Arg... It used to be possible but I removed it :) I have code to ignore the trackers priority and to contact all of them at once. However it requires v0.15 (that was supposed to be released a long time ago). I will add those buttons back and hide them if the user uses libtorrent v0.15.

This is fixed in SVN. Thanks!

Could you expand on "This is fixed in SVN. Thanks!" ?

I've been looking and haven't yet found how to toggle the Up/Down sorting for Trackers yet.

I seem to remember turning the feature back on at one point in the past, but that was an OS version or two ago, as well as a few versions back for QBt as well.

I'm currently running QBittorrent 2.4.6 on Ubuntu 10.10.

TBerk, you are talking about a separate issue: sorting.

This question was originally about tracker prioritizing (because libtorrent v0.14.x contacts only one tracker at a time and does not try the others if the first one works).

Now, to answer your question, tracker sorting is not possible right now but I could easily add it (provider that the user has libtorrent v0.15). I will look into it right now.

TBerk> Ok, the issue is that we have DHT/LSD/PeX in the same list as trackers. Would you expect those to be sorted too or would they stay on top (i.e. sticky items)?

They could stay Sticky but wouldn't _have_ to if it's a problem.

There used to be two blue buttons on the right side that allowed for moving any given tracker or group of trackers up or down.

I found that very useful.

These buttons are still there for users that have libtorrent v0.14 (you probably have v0.15). However, the purpose of these buttons was to prioritize (not to sort). It actually had an effect on how qbittorrent interacts with the trackers (sorting should not have any effect).

I will look into true sorting.

Can you help with this problem?
