install qbittorrent 1.5.1 in jaunty

Asked by Clara

Hallo, I am using qbittorrent 1.3.3 in ubuntu jaunty (it is the version in ubuntu repositories) and i like very much (it is very quick and nice, i only miss a button to prevent hibernation or suspension of computer if qbittorrent is running), but i find that it increases the used cache memory when works for a long time. So i would like to install version 1.5.1 where this problem is corrected (as i have read in forums) but i don find any qbittorrent 1.5.1 repository to add to my sources list or a deb package to install or a package to install with aptitude. Is it possible?, could you tell me where can i find them?. I know i could compile the sources (qbittorrent and rasterbar)but it is very complicated for (i am newbie to linux) me unless i have read the how to compile. Thanks in advance. Regards.
Clara

Ok. I have a little free time tonight. I will try to package latest release
for Jaunty and upload it to a repository. I will contact you back once it is
done.
Best regards,
Chris.

Instructions should be available soon here:
https://launchpad.net/~hydr0g3n/+archive/ppa

Packages are currently being built. It is the first time I use Ubuntu PPA so
I hope it works.

Best regards.

I have updated to qbittorrent 1.5.1 with software packages you have built. It works like a charm. Quicker, very little use of memory (about 1,4% with two torrents downloading and two uploading), a nicer gui and the preferences display showing correctly and better.
I have a suggestion for future versions:
- To add a prevent hibernation or suspension of computer button when qbittorrent is active.
And one question, qbittorrent runs automatically when i boot ubuntu, i have seen in system -->preferences-->apps at the beginning and there i don't see any qbittorent in order to untick because i don't wont the program launches automatically at the begining, is there any file where i can say what programs run at beggining?.
Great job qbittorrent.
Thanks and regards.

I agree about anti-hibernation feature. This would be interesting for next
release. I'll look into it.
Regarding qbittorrent launching on startup, I don't have this feature in
qBittorrent so this was caused by something else. I would have thought of
System -> Preferences -> Startup Programs too... Maybe there is some kind of
session manager which is enabled and runs on startup the apps that were
running in your previous session? If so, make sure that qBittorrent process
is not running before you shut down (or reboot) the computer ("killall
qbittorrent" in a term should do it. Close qBittorrent in a traditional
manner first to avoid loosing data).

Best regards,
