Ok. The cause of your problem is that you have the package libgcrypt11 (amd64 architecture) installed in a version that does not come from the Ubuntu repositories for precise. Pipelight now requires as a dependency that also the libgcrypt11 package is installed for the i386 architecture. And the versions of these two packages have to be identical.
Options for repairing this:
1. downgrade libgcrypt11:amd64 to the standard version (may cause dependency problems with other packages)
or
2. install libgcryp11:i386 in the same version (might also end up in other dependency problems)
Can you tell anything about the reason for that version of libgcrypt11:amd64 and the source it came from?
What is the output of
dpkg -l | grep 1.5.3-2ubuntu4.2

Hi Manfred,
Looking at my history I installed the libgcryptll:amd64 because I did a
spotify installation.
Below you can see the commands that I executed. How can I downgrade the
libgcrypt11:amd64 to the standard version?
Or what do you suggest is the best way to go?
47 sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver
--recv-keys BBEBDCB318AD50E
48 echo deb http://
tee /etc/apt/
49 sudo apt-get update
50 sudo apt-get install spotify-client
51 sudo apt-get install spotify-
52 sudo apt-get install spotify-client-qt
53 wget
http://
54 sudo wget
http://
55 sudo apt-get purge spotify
56 sudo apt-get purge spotify-client
Output:
silly@U-PC:~$ dpkg -l | grep 1.5.3-2ubuntu4.2
ii libgcrypt11 1.5.3-2ubuntu4.2 LGPL Crypto library

When you did the spotify installation, according to your log you downloaded version 1.5.0-5... of libgcrypt11, but currently you have 1.5.3-2... The installation must have happened at another moment.
I assume that the easier way will be upgrading the i386 version.
wget http://
sudo dpkg --install libgcrypt11_

HI Manfred,
It worked. the 1st try it did not work.
I had to do a sudo apt-get -f install.
When I did the commands again everything was installed fine.
For now my pipelight issue is solved. THANK YOU!

Hi Manfred,
Not with pipelight anymore. That is installed now.
I have an issue now to get netflix running in Firefox.
But I guess that is another question/topic?

I suggest that you close this question document as "solved" and open a new one for the Firefox problem.

Just one additional word of caution:
Support for Ubuntu 12.04 (codename precise) will end in April this year.
You should consider an upgrade to a supported release (e.g. 16.04 with support until 2021) in due course.

Hi Manfred,
I have just upgraded to 14.04.
The issue with my laptop is that when I use 16.04 that my desktop freezes.
And I can only use cli. Now I will check if 14.04 keeps running stable.
