No square format (DV 16/9)

Asked by cedd-750

Hello,
I use a video camera with DV 16:9.
This one have a ratio screen of 1.4220 x 1.0000, in fact it's not a square pixel?
But in "type projet" we have only DV PAL or DV PAL widescreen.
It's only a square formats of pixel.
Please, have you the possibility to create a "no square format".

Hello cedd-750,

I have never encountered the format you describe.

Are you sure this is not 1440 x 1080 with a 4:3 pixel ratio (ie anamorphic)?

It certainly looks like you are using an HDV format rather than DV.

If it is 1440x1080 anamorphic widescreen then use the hdv_1080_25p profile.

I hope this helps, Helen McCall

thanks for your reply,
Sorry is not a HD format.
It's DV PAL (16:9) 720x576 but with no square pixel format.
When i create a new projet with DV PAL widescreen the render create 2 black bands (left and right of the video).
For me, my video is interpreted in 4:3 square pixel.
If i create my projet on DV PAL, the render is on 4:3 and my original format is dead.
My final question is:
What is the good configuration on openshot for the gestion of no square pixel (720x576 with ratio of (width 1.422)x(Height 1.000).
I suppose that is new format or option for openshot ?

Hello cedd-750

You are describing DV PAL Widescreen with anamorphic pixel ratio

Use profile DV PAL Widescreen

This is also the standard profile for widescreen videos on SD DVDs

I hope this helps, Helen McCall

I'm sorry,
It's probably a video camera's configuration problem.
It's my first time with my option (16:9) and after some modification on my camera the result ratio after render it's ok.
Sorry and thanks for your work on openshot.
Long life to openshot!

I have the same problem, how did you solve this?
I read that my camera (JVC MG505) is not setting the 16:9 flag correctly but in Adobe Premiere I always could manually set the right input format (1.422x1.000) for each clip.
