out of sync effect between audio and video

I created a DVD using DV clips, titles and inserted audio - everything came sort of OK, the problem was a noticeable out of sync between the audio and video. I'm not sure but it seems that is not a simple offset but the problem gets worse as the file progresses. I was wondering if there is any knob that I can touch to solve the issue.
