Setting row repeat in ooo calc gives invalid sheet error

Asked by Peter

I want to set the top row of cells on a sheet to repeat on each page, as the table of data spreads over several pages, and I want the first row (column labels) to appear on each page.
OOo help says to use Format > Print Ranges > Edit, but this gives error message "invalid sheet reference".
This behaviour seems to be very similar to (expired) question 84350
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+question/84350

This sheet is a table of data, 4 columns by 250 rows.
Copying data to another ods spreadsheet gives same symptoms.
Running Kubuntu 9.10 64bit, OOo 3.1.

Ok, this workaround appears to work.
In Tools > Options > calc / formula, select calc A1 (even if it is already selected) and click OK.

Seems this is a bug in ooo 3.1.
