can't get row to repeat in spreadsheet. Get a invalid sheet reference

Asked by david and vonda

I have created a spreadsheet and would like the first row to repeat on all printed pages (the colum titles). I have followed the help instructions on how to do this, but I keep getting a "invalid sheet reference" error. Specifically, I select FORMAT, PRINT RANGES, EDIT, click the small icon to the right of "rows to repeat", I select cell A1 then drag it across to A4, and $1 shows up in the dialog box. I click the small icon again, go back to the original box and click okay and then get the invalid sheet reference code. The steps I have taken are what the help instructions have instructed me to do, or at least as I understand them. Please help.

Hi

I don't get this error message. Have you tried this on another spreadsheet to see if it is just a problem with this one?

Can you describe the general structure of the file. Is there more than one sheet? Are the cells in the first row just data, or are there formulae/references to other cells?

Try just copying the data to another file. Does this error still appear?

Tony
