Why do we need separate POS category cant we just use Product Category?

Wanted to understand the rationale behind having a separate POS category and Product category.

The product category can be used to apply rules in pricelists to compute the sales price of the product.

The pos category is used to filter out products in the POS display.

These are two orthogonal uses and categorization schemes.

Another reason could be that you may want having products not necesary to
be shown on POS. Let's say cost products or purchase products...

I was considering to have POS category to follow product category and remove all the traces of POS category from the view. Now I will keep them as is.
