How to increase the font size of Rubies

Asked by JC009

I installed oounihan with no problem. However, after I input chinese characters and tried to displayed the rubies, the size of the rubies are extremely small. Is there a way to increase it? It is hardly readable now.

I am running jre 6.7 and open office writer 2.4.

webdict-lib-0.1.jar
unihan-lib-0.2.jar
oohanzi-0.5.oxt
oounihan-0.3.oxt
oowebdict-0.1.oxt

..thanks...Jose

Hi Jose,

This is really an OpenOffice problem rather than a OOHanzi problem.
I've also run into it so I can tell you how I've taken care of it:

1. Open your oowriter document.

2. Hit F11 to bring up the "Styles and Formatting" dialog.

3. Click the icon for "Character Styles" at the top of the dialog. It
is the icon with a little "a" in it, and if you hover over it, a tool
hint comes up which says "Character Styles".

4. Find the style named "Rubies" in the list of styles.

5. Right click on that style and select "Modify..."

6. You can now change the style of all rubies to whatever you want. To
change the font, select the "Font" tab and you can change the typeface,
style, size, etc. Click "OK" when you are done.

There are probably ways to change the default for all new documents but
I don't know how to do it. (It probably has to do with modifying one of
the templates bundled with OO.) I use OO mainly for rough translation
drafts rather than finished products so I don't know all the nice tricks
it can do. (I use LaTeX for finished products.)

Regards,
Louis
