black screen when I try to stream movie on netflix

Asked by shaun

I loaded the PPA, update, and netflix.
When I start netflix it installs wine and goes through the setup I get no question about DRM.
Netflix starts and I can log in.
I am able to select a movie to watch but when I click on it I get a black screen and that is it. I cnn minimize it resizeit move it, but no movie or sound.
I am running Mint 14 I386 MATE.
I am using an older box P4, 1 gig ram, onboard intel video.
I have reinstalled netflex twice but no luck.

Please check and see if compositing is disabled in your X11 config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf). If you are unfamiliar with what to look for then you can give me a link to the file.

Erich,
I did not have xorg.conf. I found an old Nvidia 6200 card and put it in. Installed new drivers etc. No Xorg.conf file. Tried netflix did not work. Had Nvidia configuration create Xorg.conf. Netflix is now working. The screen seems to be choppy though. I looked at Bug#1083858. I do have fairly low download speed for some reason 300kbps. I do not know how to locate fps. If I play video in a smaller screen it looks better and the audio lines up better. Not quite sure what to do yet.
thanks for your help,
shaun

Would you mind adding your xorg.conf file to the bug? It might help others with this problem.

I believe this question has been solved (and the relevant bug should be fixed by some recent changes).
