Vinyl Setting in Preferences 1.9.1

Asked by Louis Elloie

How do you set or find the vinyl setting in 1.9.1 preferences. I haven't been able to find it and also do I need to buy an external "sound card" if I wish to use an external mixer with Mixxx? Oh I'm on OS 10 snow leopard.

Hi Louis,

It sounds like you installed Mixxx from the Mac App Store.

In that case, you need to download it directly from http://mixxx.org instead, because the app store version of Mixxx does not have vinyl-control support enabled due to licensing issues. You can find out more FAQs about Vinyl Control on our wiki: http://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/vinyl_control

In general, if your computer already has 2 inputs, you do not need an external sound card.

Best regards,
RJ Ryan

I have a new question now. I just purchased the audio 2 dj sound card and I'm having a problem with the vinyl control. This time though when the vinyl moves it has no affect on the song. Is this a hardware or software problem. I can play the songs trough the mixer but can't control the music with the vinyl.

You cannot use vinyl control with the NI Audio 2 DJ. This sound interface has only two stereo outputs, but for vinyl control you need 2 phono or line-in inputs as well.

If you want to stick with NI, you need the Audio 4 DJ, if you want to connect more than two turntables, buy the Audio 6 DJ, Audio 8 DJ or Audio 10 DJ.

Can you help with this problem?
