NLO model file LO generation

Asked by Guglielmo Coloretti

Dear all,

Again here I am with another question. I tried to generate a simple HV process using the SM model file at NLO: generate p p > z h [QCD]

I then computed the cross section at LO without any parton shower and obtained: 0.63402 ± 0.00236 (pb).

I then generated the same process but at LO with: generate p p > z h

Computing the cross section without parton shower I obtained: 0.57992 ± 0.000574 (pb).

Is this difference expected?

I thank you very much for your time!

Best regards,
Guglielmo

Yes it is expected, the
LO from NLO is following cuts/scale/PDF of the NLO comptuation (since the goal here is to compute K-factor) which are not identical to the cuts/scale/PDF used wihtin the LO computation.

So if you do not tune those to be identical, yes they will be different number.

Cheers,

Olivier

My bad. I did not think about it. Thank you very much again and apologies for the question! :)
