Branching ratio

Asked by Sarah

Hello

can a branching ratio be measured in Madgraph?

I am asking this question because I calculated the process in 2HDM g g > A > h e+ e- /a [QCD] ( e+ e- come from z) and I calculated the process in 2HDM g g > A [QCD] then multipled the cross section (gg>A) by BR(A>hz) from 2HDMC and multipled it by 0.03 (the branching ratio of z goes to e+ e-).

I expected to get similar results but I got results are different by 1 pb

I am trying to find an answer to the puzzle.

best regards

Hi,

Let state the obvious first: Madgraph does not do measurement but prediction (within a theoretical framework/hyppothesis/level of precision).
So obviously, I do understand that this is not your real question.

Well is 1pb is big or small here? I do not know with your information.
Obviously you are using the NWA in one case (relative theoretical error of the order of width/mass)
compare to a full computation. so you do not expect to get the exact same number.

Cheers,

Olivier
