install pythia82

Dear MG5 team,

I wish to install Pythia82 in MG5_v2_6_7, however an automatic installation of Pythia83 is occuring on giving command "install pythia8". Could you please direct how to install Pythia82 here?

Hi,

MG5aMC 2.6.7 is not supported anymore.
Indeed the install command is designed to work on the long term stable version and newer version
(so 2.9.4 and 3.x) older version are not supported.
All those versions are now designed for pythia8.3

The only solution is to
1) install by hand pythis8.2
2) edit the madgraph configuration file
3) install bazaar
4) install the madgraph pythia8 interface via bzr (bzr branch lp:~maddevelopers/mg5amcnlo/MG5aMC_PY8_interface <https://code.launchpad.net/~maddevelopers/mg5amcnlo/MG5aMC_PY8_interface>)
5) use the bzr revert command to find the version that is compatible with pythia8.2
(not sure but maybe bzr revert -r 38 should work)
