p p > t t~

Asked by Cherry Parba

Good day Madgraph expert,

I am trying to simulate, p p > t t~ at center of mass energy of 100 TeV and i want to put some cuts. I want that atleast 2 jets in an event has pt > 3000 GeV, |eta| < 3.0 and deltaEta(eta1,eta2) < 2.4 .

But in does not work,

Survey return zero cross section.
   Typical reasons are the following:
   1) A massive s-channel particle has a width set to zero.
   2) The pdf are zero for at least one of the initial state particles
or you are using maxjetflavor=4 for initial state b:s.
   3) The cuts are too strong.
   Please check/correct your param_card and/or your run_card.

Hi,

In your process, you do not have any final state jet in the final state.
(you "only" have one top and an anti-top).

So your cut
3000.0 = ptj1min ! minimum pt for the leading jet in pt
3000.0 = ptj2min ! minimum pt for the second jet in pt

Does not make any sense and likely cut 100% of your process.

You either have to apply such cut after parton shower (and/or decay) but not at this level of the computation.

Cheers,

Olivier

PS: In principle such cut is not even displayed in the run_card for such process for that precise reason that it does not make sense to specify cut on "jet" for your process.

Ah so that is why, when i do , p p > t t~, (t > b w+, w+ > mu vm), (t ~ > b~ w-, w- > j j) it works. So at generator level, to make it sense, i will cut particles that is originally involve on the process.

Can you help with this problem?
