Up against ERROR 403: Forbidden when installing pythia 8

Asked by Yuchen Guo

Dear Olivier,

Starting from the day before yesterday, I always receive a 403 forbidden when installing pythia8.
I am using Ubuntu 18.04.

Is there a work around?

For example we copy the files from the HEPTools/pythia8 folder from another computer, but there is also an error about mg5amc_py8_interface.

I reinstalled the mg5aMC_py8_interface, and other error show up:

======================================================
......
The version of HEPMC2 linked to Pythia8 seems not to include a static library.
This is necessary for the default compilation of MG5aMC_PY8_interface.
You can try again with the option --pythia8_makefile but HEPMC2 will need to be available at runtime.

Command "install mg5amc_py8_interface " interrupted in sub-command:
"install mg5amc_py8_interface" with error:
InvalidCmd : Installation of mg5amc_py8_interface failed.

Please help!

HI,

Your second issue is due to a configuration error when multiple version of PY8 exists.
Look at the last post of this thread:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo/+bug/1649725
on how to fix that.

Cheers,

Olivier

PS: For the py8 link, we will have to wait that their website is up again

The website is up, bit the file seems not to exist (any more).

If you look at http://home.thep.lu.se/~torbjorn/pythia8/ you will see that several file with a name line pythia(number).tgz exist, but no file pythia82.tgz

This seems to be an inconsistency between the filename in the installer and the files available on the server.
