UFO model repository in MadGraph website

Asked by Arka Santra

Hi,
I have prepared a model to include photon fusion production of magnetic monopole along with the previously used Drell-Yan mechanism. This is a brief report of the generated UFO model:
https://arxiv.org/abs/1808.08942 (section IV)

I want to upload the UFO models to MadGraph repository so that these models can be used by others in future. How can I do that?

Also, my model has a form factor which is not in the .fr file of the model. I have added this form factor using the 'Method2: Fortran way' from this webpage: https://cp3.irmp.ucl.ac.be/projects/madgraph/wiki/FormFactors
Is it possible to upload the entire model (not only the .fr file)?

Thank you,
Arka

Hi Arka,

You just have to give me an html link of the tarball of your UFO model and I will add it on our database.
After that anyone would be able to do
import model XXXXXX
and the code will automatically download your tarball.

If you add and __arxiv__ number in your __init__.py then I will quote that number for those use to know where the associated paper is (and how to cite it).

Our server will check every hour if your tarball is still online and remove your model automatically of the database if this is not the case.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,
Thank you for the information. Here is the tar file containing all the MadGraph UFO models:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AM0agCodoJk9_PyUrWQwUgEqxWUSNW5U/view?usp=sharing
. I added '__arxiv__' to the init.py containing the necessary information.

Is there any way I can include the readme file containing few instructions:
https://github.com/asantra/UpdatedMadGraphModels/blob/master/Models/README.md

Thank you,
Arka

hi,

Is there any way I can include the readme file containing few instructions:
https://github.com/asantra/UpdatedMadGraphModels/blob/master/Models/README.md

If you include a file named README.
Then we will print a statement to suggest the user of your model to read that file.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AM0agCodoJk9_PyUrWQwUgEqxWUSNW5U/view?usp=sharing

Looks like that this is not a direct link to the tarball. I would need a direct link to the tarball to add that link in our database. If you need a place where to store your model, I wouls suggest the FeynRules wiki page.
If you prefer this can also be inside the MG5aMC wiki pages.

Cheers,

Olivier

Arka Santra is still having a problem:

Hi Olivier,
Sorry I am not experienced with the FeynRules/MadGraph wiki page. I tried to load my models to wikis here:
a. FeynRules wiki:
https://feynrules.irmp.ucl.ac.be/wiki
b. MadGraph wiki:
https://cp3.irmp.ucl.ac.be/projects/madgraph/wiki

but I do not see any option to upload tarball. Should I sign up somewhere to be able to upload the tar files?

Also, where do I keep the README file? Inside the tarball?

Cheers,
Arka

Hi,

You need to create an account on the wiki first.
Then you can create your own page (typically describing your model)
and add any attachment that you want.
I would suggest to do that in feynrules wiki (which is more appropriate than the MG one in principle)
Also doing it in Feynrules, means that any UFO model from that wiki will be automatically detected and put in the database for MG5aMC.

Cheers,

Olivier

PS: In order to have an account on the FR wiki, you typically need to contact claude duhr by email since he is the one who can create an account for you.

Hi Olivier,
This is the FeynRules page where I keep and describe my models:
https://feynrules.irmp.ucl.ac.be/wiki/MonopoleDY

Please let me know if this is okay, or I need to change something.
Thank you very much,
Arka

Hi Arka,

the script that update the database rejected your tarball:

> found new attachment: MonopoleDY/MadGraphMonopoleModel.tar by ArkaSantra
> fail to have valid UFO for http://feynrules.irmp.ucl.ac.be/raw-attachment/wiki/MonopoleDY/MadGraphMonopoleModel.tar named found MadGraphModelsImport
> Not valid UFO model

If you want to have those models include in the MG5aMC database of models,
you need to have one tarball per model and not one tarball for all the models.

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,
I have deleted the previous tarball and added separate tar files for separate models here:
  https://feynrules.irmp.ucl.ac.be/wiki/MonopoleDY

Please let me know if this is now okay.

  Thank you,
  Arka

Yes perfect.

The function
import model mono_spinhalf
will work in approximatively 30 min.
(20h45 CERN time)

Cheers,

Olivier

The UFO (Universal FeynRules Output) model repository on the MadGraph website https://sassachecks.co.za/ serves as a crucial resource for theoretical and particle physicists, offering a comprehensive library of models that can be directly implemented within the MadGraph framework. This repository is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical model-building and phenomenological studies, facilitating the simulation of particle collisions and the exploration of new physics beyond the Standard Model. By providing an extensive array of models in the UFO format, the repository allows researchers to seamlessly import complex new physics scenarios into MadGraph, enabling detailed simulations of particle interactions at high-energy particle colliders such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This invaluable tool supports the physics community in testing the viability of theoretical models against experimental data, fostering advancements in our understanding of the fundamental constituents and forces of the universe.
