Effects of Q2min on elastic photon-photon scattering to µµ

Asked by Peter Steinberg

Hi -

Moving this to a new thread from https://answers.launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo/+question/262196

I am running a calculation of dimuons from p/gamma+p/gamma (using lpp=2). I have set all minimum pTs to zero, but I still see a minimum pT>2 GeV on the outgoing muons.

The only hint I have on this is the Q2min>4 GeV^2 hard-coded into reweight.f but I do not see why this is imposed on me in this scenario, where I am using the elastic photons, and not the normal PDFs.

Thanks for any advice,
Peter

Hi,

This is a hardcoded cut related to the scale choice of the PDF.
The way to avoid this cut is to set that scale to either to a fix value and/or to another dynamical scale choice.

Cheers,

Olivier
