Different results obtained for a SUSY decay process in mssm and mssm_v4

Asked by Dibyashree Sengupta

Hi,

I generated a simple SUSY decay process using MG5. First I did it using the model mssm and then I used the model mssm_v4. I have used the version MG5_aMC_v_2_3_3. In both the cases I have used slha file as the parameter card. However, the results I get do not match each other. The result (decay width) that mssm_v4 yields is in good agreement with that obtained using isajet. But the result given by mssm is slightly different.

Can you please tell me what is causing the difference in results from mssm and mssm_v4 and how can I solve this problem?

Thanking you,
Dibyashree.

Hi,

Mssm_v4 is kept for retro-compatibility with MG4, we should actually think to remove it now since the retro-compatibility with MG4 should not be an issue anymore. As all v4 model, this model does not follow the UFO convention and therefore is not fully compatible with MG5aMC capabilities.

The mssm model is actually not present anymore in recent version of MG5. It has been replaced by MSSM_SLHA2 where as indicated in the name,
The model follows the SLHA2 convention which is fully compatible with pythia8.

Concerning the model, they are suppose to be identical and both restricted to the SLHA1 spectrum.
The mssm model is on top of that restricted such that all left/right particle should have the same mass (I do not think that such restriction was present for the mssm_v4 model)

Cheers,

Olivier
