error in chargino and neutralino production showering in py8
Hi All
I'm trying to shower my neutralino and chargino production events in pythia8 (events are generated in MG5_2.4 where decays of supersymmetric particles included, mass spectrum generated by SARAH-SPheno). I'm using the same Pythia card where I showered stop production events and it did the job without errors, however, this time I got followings;
PYTHIA Error in Pythia::check: unknown particle code , i = 5, id = 31
...
| 84031 Abort from Pythia::next: parton+hadronLevel failed; giving up
| 1 Abort from Pythia::next: reached end of Les Houches Events File
| 5568112 Error in Pythia::check: unknown particle code
| 839926 Error in Pythia::next: check of event revealed problems
| 444 Error in Pythia::next: hadronLevel failed; try again
| 444 Error in StringFragmenta
| 1 Info from SLHAinterface:
| 165 Warning in MiniStringFragm
| 630 Warning in Pythia::check: not quite matched particle energy/
| 1 Warning in SLHAinterface:
| 371 Warning in SLHAinterface:
| 2 Warning in SLHAinterface:
| 1 Warning in SLHAinterface:
| 15 Warning in SLHAinterface:
| 1 Warning in SLHAinterface:
| 845 Warning in SpaceShower:
| 13 Warning in TauDecays::decay: maximum decay weight exceeded in tau decay
| 1 Warning in TauDecays::decay: unknown correlated tau production, assuming from unpolarized photon
| 272 Warning in TimeShower::pTnext: negative dipole mass.
It also couldn't read the proper x-section from MG5 probably due to these errors. Is there any way to define particles, I thought it could read all of it from slha file. I know that its also possible to do it in MG5_2.5 however I'm still having issues with SPheno-MG5 compatibility there.
Best regards
Jack

Hi,
Can you copy paste the banner of the file and a couple of events?
This will allow me to check if the lhef is valid or not. If it is then you should contact PY8 author (especially since you are not using the MG5/PY8 interface introduced in 2.5.x)
Cheers,
Olivier

Dear Oliver
Thanks for your quick response
Here is how I generated events:
import model UMSSM --modelname
define dm = sv1 sv1c
define cha = c1 c1bar
define neut = vl vl~
define w = wm wmc
generate p p > c1 c1bar, (c1 > w n1, (n1 > dm neut)), (c1bar > w n1, (\
n1 > dm neut))
add process p p > cha n1, (cha > w n1, (n1 > dm neut)), (n1 > dm neut\
)
add process p p > cha n2, (cha > w n1, (n1 > dm neut)), (n2 > z n1, (\
n1 > dm neut))
add process p p > n2 n2, (n2 > z n1, (n1 > dm neut)), (n2 > z n1, (n1\
> dm neut))
add process p p > n2 n1, (n2 > z n1, (n1 > dm neut)), (n1 > dm neut)
add process p p > n1 n1, (n1 > dm neut), (n1 > dm neut)
run card is just changed for COM energy and numb events rest is default. Here are some events from lhe file:

So the lhef event seems perfect.
What about the param_card.dat?
In particular do you have the BSM information about BSM particles?
If not this might explain why PY8 do not know what to do with particle 31.
Otherwise, I guess that you will need to ask the py8 author what the problem is.
Cheers,
Olivier
