Please check that widths of final state particles (e.g. top) have been set to 0 in the param_card.dat
Hi,
I am generating p p > b b~ chi chi~ in NLO with jet-matching in 4FS. I am using LHAPDF setid 260000. I have encountered the same issue stated in this post:
https:/
In my case i have "Soft test 6 FAILED. Fraction of failures: 0.93".
If I aware the maximum allowed failures fraction normally is 0.3. This is case how should I proceed? Thanks.

Hi,
can you send/upload the cards (proc/param/run) that you use for the run?
Thanks!

Hi Marco,
Thanks for taking the query. May I know how do I upload those files here? there is no upload button. Or do you prefer to send those files via email?
Thanks,

Dear Siew Yan,
As we understood investigating your problem, the solution is not to include
charm quarks in the definition of p (and of j if you do merging), since the
model you use has a non-vanishing charm mass.
If you want to set the charm mass to zero, the correct way is to create a
restriction card with mc=0 and load the model with such a restriction, then
generate the process (in this case including c and c~ in the p / j
definitions). Do not set the charm mass to zero in the param card after
having generated the process, as this may badly ruin the cancelation of IR
singularities.
Please don't hesitate to come back to us if you have further questions.
All the best!
Marco

Hi,
i don’t understand: why do you need to shower twice? what happens when you shower just once?
Cheers,
Marco

Hi Marco,
Allow me to explain more detail on the issue, during the user interface session, we usually greeted with the table show below. I turned off the shower option, later the next menu presented was accompanied with a WARNING message which is what concerned me.
For the moment i have generated the NLO sample without shower within madgraph and it was fine during the hadronization/
Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks!!
Cheers,
Siew Yan
INFO: Enter mode value: noshower. Go to the related mode
The following switches determine which operations are executed:
1 Perturbative order of the calculation: order=NLO
2 Fixed order (no event generation and no MC@[N]LO matching): fixed_order=OFF
3 Shower the generated events: shower=OFF
4 Decay particles with the MadSpin module: madspin=OFF
5 Add weights to the events based on changing model parameters: reweight=Not available (requires NumPy)
Either type the switch number (1 to 5) to change its default setting,
or set any switch explicitly (e.g. type 'order=LO' at the prompt)
Type '0', 'auto', 'done' or just press enter when you are done.

INFO: will run in mode: noshower
WARNING: You have chosen not to run a parton shower. NLO events without showering are NOT physical.
Please, shower the Les Houches events before using them for physics analyses.
Do you want to edit a card (press enter to bypass editing)?
1 / param : param_card.dat
2 / run : run_card.dat
you can also
- enter the path to a valid card or banner.
- use the 'set' command to modify a parameter directly.
The set option works only for param_card and run_card.
Type 'help set' for more information on this command.
- call an external program (ASperGE/
Type 'help' for the list of available command

Dear Siew Yan,
now i understand your question.
So, MG5_aMC@NLO provides an internal way to steer the shower simulations so that one can shower .lhe events. However, one can use other ways to steer the shower (provided one sets some parameters to the correct value in the shower input files, see here
http://
So one should (either with the internal way of MG5_AMC or with external softwares) always run the parton shower on the event files.
Let us know if there is something unclear!
Cheers,
Marco

Dear Marco,
Thanks for the explanation. It does help to clear my doubt.
Since you are familiar with my study from the beginning, i would like to report another problem which i have encountered in the study. During the NLO generation at the compiling state i have received error message:
Exception: program /home/centos/
I will send the ME5_DEBUG to your email. Would you help me to take a look on how to resolve this.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Siew Yan
