problem with Pythia

Asked by Olympia

Hello,

I have a problem with pythia. After I generate an event ( generate p p > y > z z , z > mu+ mu- , z > d d~ y, d > j , d~ > j) (I have import a model for the graviton) a choose the option Pythia on, but when I look at the results(in the root file I have create from the results), I can't see on particle PID any pion in the final state(I mean, I have to the expect something like this in the final state after the hadronization) . Maybe the parton shower and the hadronization does not occur. But I don't understand why, I have already download the Pythia.

Could you help me?

Hi,

Are you sure that you are not looking at the root file corresponding to the output before the shower?
What are the various link that you see in the cross.html output file?
What are the various file in the Events/`RUN_NAME` directory?

Cheers,

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

I am sure that I am looking at the root file after the shower.
In the cross.html file I have ( parton madevent -> LHE,plots
                                                   pythia -> LOG, STDHEP, LHE ,plots
                                                   pgs -> LOG, LHCO ,plots)

In the Event file I have the run_01file (which include; run_01_tag_1_banner.txt , tag_1_pgs.log , tag_1_pythia.log , tag_1_pgs_events.lhco.gz, tag_1_pythia_events.hep.gz, tag_1_pythia_events.lhe.gz, tag_1_pythia_syst.dat.gz ,unweighted_events.lhe.gz , unweighted_events.lhe, unweighted_events.root)

and

 beforeveto.tree , event.tree, fort.0 , hep2lhe.log , olympics.log, pgs_uncleaned_events.lhco , xsecs.tree , pythia_events.hep.

Olympia.

Ok, so the file that contain that information should be:
> tag_1_pythia_events.hep.gz

This is the file that contains the shower output.
To check if it was running correctly, you can check the content of the
> tag_1_pythia.log

The only root file that you have here:
> unweighted_events.root

is the one before the shower.

Cheers,

Olivier

It's seems like running correctly!

So in order to have a root file after parton shower I have to convert the tag_1_pythia_events.hep into a root file?

Thanks, Olympia.
