Loop induced gluon fusion

Asked by Matthew Low

Dear Madgraph team,

I've been trying to compute higgs production in gluon fusion and seem to be having trouble reproducing the cross-section from other sources. For example, from HIGLU, I find the cross-sections at LO (at NNLO the k-factor is ~2)

\sigma(7 TeV) = 7 pb
\sigma(8 TeV) = 9 pb
\sigma(13 TeV) = 22 pb

whereas from the loop induced Madgraph process (using p p > h [QCD]) I find:

\sigma(7 TeV) = 5.1 pb
\sigma(8 TeV) = 6.6 pb
\sigma(13 TeV) = 15.8 pb

I've checked both the latest version of Madgraph and the next-to-latest version and the results are the same. I've also played a little with renormalization scale and PDFs and the change is not substantial.

Best,
- Matthew

Hi,

Did you check that the yukawa of the top was set to the same value?
Did you check that they include the bottom mass effect? (This is quite large for gg > h)
and that the yukawa of the bottom is include.

In our paper we report (at 13TeV):
17.79 pb if you include both the top and yukawa loop
and
19.94 if you include only the top loop.

The PDF error being 1.4% but the scale uncertainty was estimated at about 30%.

Cheers,

Olivier
