Difference between unweighted_events.lhe.gz and events.lhe.gz

Hello,

When we run the madgraph package then in the Event directory two lhe files formed named events.lhe.gz and unweighted_events.lhe.gz.

So, Please let me know, the difference between the two and which one we should use or prefer in which cases?

Hi ram,

events.lhe.gz has weighted events (actually we already apply some pre-unweighting)
and unweighted_events.lhe.gz contains unweighted events. This file is generated from the previous input.

You can use both files in a fully equivalent way (as you long as you keep track of the weight of each events).
Most of the people prefer to use the unweighted_events.lhe.gz
since it has less events for the same statistical uncertainty.
