wrong status for BSM particles after showering

Asked by Renjie Wang

Dear experts,

I have a quick question about particle status in LHE file after run with MG+pythia.

The question is I have a stable Dirac fermion particle (1009,-1009), when just run MG, the everything is good, but after parton shower with pythia, the particle goes to the intermediator status (2), not stable status (1).

How can I solve it?

Thanks ahead;
Ren-Jie

Hi,

You need to modify the file pythia-pgs/src/hep2lhe.f
and around line 291 adding a condition for stating that 1009 should be put in status 1
the status is saved in ISTUP variable.

This being said, I would strongly suggest to use the official pythia output (the .stdhep) instead of using the converted/simplified output that we create to make plot.

Cheers,

Olivier
