how do I set MSSM parameters (masses and mixing parameters) in parameters.py

Asked by Ashutosh Kotwal

hi,
I am trying to set the MSSM particle masses and mixing parameters via this file

models/mssm/parameters.py

However, the Cards/param_card.dat file that is produced in the process directory does not match the numbers I put into parameters.py. The values in param_card.dat are frozen at some other default values.

Am I doing something wrong, is there another source of MSSM parameters that needs to be edited?

thanks,
ashutosh

Dear Ashutosh,

The default value that you modify in parameters.py are the one for the mssm-full model.
The default value for the mssm model are present in restrict_default.dat

In top of that the mssm are a specific particularity that the UFO model is in SLHA2 format but since pythia6 support only SLHA1 format,
the param_card that we ask for is in the SLHA1 format. They are therefore a conversion done on the flight, and that’s the reason why you do not even have the same parameter
between the UFO model and the param_card.

Cheers,

Olivier

Dear Olivier,
Thanks! so, if I specify the "mssm" model and edit the restrict_default.dat file in the models/mssm/ directory, will I get the parameter values I want ?

In other words, does this restrict_default.dat file get propagated to the param_card that is used for generating events?

regards,
Ashutosh
