Matching plots not smooth

Asked by Ralph Edezhath

Hi,
I've been trying to generate matches samples for diphoton+0,1,2 jets. The matching plots are not smooth (this is what I get http://i61.tinypic.com/5apete.jpg ). What are the correct settings to use in MG5 and Pythia?

This is what I've been using besides the default settings:

1= ickkw
50=xqcut
5 = maxjetflavor (also b b~ in j, p definitions)

QCUT = 50 (tried varying from 40 to 200)
SHOWERKT=T
MINJETS=0
MAXJETS=2

thanks,
Ralph

Hi,

In showerkt matching qcut should always be larger than xqcut.
According to the plot that you show, the xqcut value that you use is much too large, which is not surprising for diphoton.
I would try with something around
xqcut = 10
qcut =20

Cheers,

Olivier

Thanks Olivier, that works!

Is there a straightforward to get the right xqcut value for a particular process or is it through trial and error?

It is basically trial and error.

you have some guidelines here:
