install Delphes error

Asked by Filippo Sala

Hi,

I have a new MacBook, and when I type "install Delphes" in Madgraph I get the following error:

ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64
clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
make: *** [lib/libUtilities.so] Error 1
Error detected during the compilation. Please check the compilation error and run make manually.

I get the same error with the following versions of MadGraph:
v2_1_1
v2_1_0
v1_5_14
and also if I type "install Delphes2"

Is there a solution to this problem?
If not, how do I install Delphes and make it usable with MadGraph?

Even if the installation gave the error, I tried to use Delphes anyway for some studies, and what happens is that the delphes_card.dat gets automatically canceled/is not seen, so that my runs stop after pythia

I saw there is a similar post here https://answers.launchpad.net/mg5amcnlo/+question/222401,
but it did not solved the issue, and it is now more than one year old..

Thanks in advance for your help,
Filippo

You should contact Delphes author about the installation of their code.
My two cent contribution is that you have root which is compiled in a non standard way which makes the compilation of Delphes to fail.
But I’m not an expert in C++ compilation.

This is normal since the code Detect that the code is not install correctly (i.e. that the Delphes executable is missing)
