four top events

Asked by Busato

Dear MadGraph team,

I would like to generate events with 4 top quarks in the final state with MadGraph5 (pp>ttt~t~).

Is there some BSM model with new interactions in the top sector that could lead to such a final state
already implemented in MadGraph5 ?

For the moment I don't really care about the details of the model. I'm starting the analysis and I just
need to produce a first sample to start investigating the experimental signature of this final state.
So anything would fit my needs basically, even the simplest four top quarks effective contact interaction.

thanks a lot for your help,
Emmanuel Busato (ATLAS member)

Dear Emmanuel,

thanks for your inquiry.

As a first step you can of course generate pp>ttt~t~ in the SM, QCD=4.

If you'd like something more, like a four fermion interaction, I suggest
you take a very heavy Higgs (1 TeV) in the SM and ask for
pp>tt~tt~ $ H
so that you require a Higgs in the s-channel (which will turn out to
be off-shell).

Actually, Celine has done this properly for our paper arXiv:1010.6304
[hep-ph].
She has a FR model interfaced to MG5 with all the heavy resonances
necessary
to generate the full set of operators with four tops. In case, you can
ask her...

In order to ask the higgs to be in the S-channel, the correct syntax is
p p > H > t t~ t t~

> pp>tt~tt~ $ H
forbids the Higgs to be in S-channel.

Dear Emmanuel,

I have a madgraph 4 model file I made for Daniel Whiteson, which I would be willing to share as well. It's based on my papers concerning 4 top signals with some students and postdocs:

Top Compositeness at the Tevatron and LHC.
By Ben Lillie, Jing Shu, Timothy M.P. Tait.
JHEP 0804:087,2008,. [arXiv:0712.3057]

Manifestations of Top Compositeness at Colliders.
By Kunal Kumar, Tim M.P. Tait, Roberto Vega- Morales.
JHEP 0905:022,2009,. [arXiv:0901.3808]

Let me know by email if you'd like the files.

Best wishes,
   Tim Tait
