Nan values for Direct Detection calculation

Hi,

I am trying to compute spin independent cross section in Alternative Left-Right Model (http://feynrules.irmp.ucl.ac.be/wiki/ALRM#no1). However, MadDM always ends up with Nan values for direct(directional) detection calculations while it can calculate the relic density and/or indirect detection values. How can I fix that problem ?

Hi,

I have tested in the 2to2lo mode (the fastest one) and fix a couple of issue.
In that mode, you have contribution so small that the code was crashing.

I have fix this in the version 3.0.3 of maddm (that will be released in 30 min if everything works as expected on the server side)

I have tested with the following command file:

Hi,

This seems to be a physics issue with the model and the a technical bug of the code.
(and therefore I will need to pass this question to someone else -> KC).
The problem is that you have your darkmatter candidate coupling directly to the photon.
Even if that one is not a charged particle.

This means that we have a photon in t-channel for the direct-detection diagram and ...
that one can go onshell leading to division by zero. In other word this result is divergent (and does not make sense at LO at least). Consequently the nan result is actually correct.

Maybe putting a cut might be enough in this case. But such cut are not possible to implement so far.
Additionally, such cut should be experimentally driven obviously (i.e not clear to me which cut would be relevant here)

I will assign this to someone much more expert than me in this area, hoping he can give more light on the issue.

Dear Ozer,

Maybe one solution is to remove the photon contribution.
(Obviously you should check the litterature if this make sense or not).
For that you need maddm 3.0.4
In that case I have numerical value.

The syntax for that is
generate direct_detection / a

I calculate the relic density and spin independent/dependent cross sections both using MadDM (by removing the photon contribution) and micrOMEGAs. Then I compare them for all spectrum. The results are pretty close. I will think about the photon contribution.
