negative weights in ma5

Asked by Eleni Vryonidou

Hi,

is there a way to avoid ma5 setting negative bin weights to 0?

We are looking at some interference event samples which sometimes have all weights being negative and we are unable to plot them.

Thanks,

Eleni

Hi Eleni

Ma5 does not set negative weights to zero, you can find all the histogram information under `Output/SAF/_<my_sample_name>/MadanalysisJob_<ID>/Histograms/histos.saf`. There you will see two columns where left column is used for positive weights and right columns are used for negative weights (if you dont see any negative weight here please make sure that some negatively weighted events are actually in the histogram and if that is the case please let us know that means thats a bug and if you can send us 10 events we can check.)

During the plotting for the report depending on the renderer, negative bins might become invisible on the plots we did not implement a particular plotting for negative bins so if this is the case you can always read the table from histos.saf and plot the events as you like.

PS: I’m assuming you are using latest ma5 (v1.9.60)

Cheers
