LHE dataset "not been found or has a unsupported format"

Asked by Radha Mastandrea

I am trying to import a dataset generated with Madgraph in the lhe.gz format, but when I try to import it (with both a relative and a full path) I get the error "MA5-ERROR: The dataset <path> has not been found or has a unsupported format." I am using root version 6.22.02 (with python), the most recent versions of madgraph and madanalysis, and no version of zlibs.

Thank you!

Hi

First of all, in what mode are you running ma5? You should be running it in parton mode “./bin/ma5”. Please also make sure that you have zlib installed otherwise ma5 can not read zipped files (.gz extension). Note that this has nothing to do with root yet, we have internal check points to make sure that the sample you are using is going to run smoothly during the analysis. The error that you are getting is from one of these check points. In order to check what types of files you can read with the any run of ma5 you can simply type “display main” this will show all the file formats that you can import.

Hope it helps
Cheers
