Error in getting plots like PT, M of leptons in Madanalysis 5
Hi,
I am trying to get kinematic distribution like PT , M of leptons, but I am getting blank distribution where as I can get any distribution of jets. The way I defined the PT and M(Invariant Mass) of leptons are given below,
define e = e+ e-
plot PT(e[1])
plot PT(e[2])
plot M(e[1] e[2])
or
define lep = e+ e- mu+ mu-
define jet = j b b~
select N(lep)>=2
select N(jet)>=2
plot PT(lep[1])
plot PT(lep[2])
Can you please give me suggestions for the problem?
Regards,
Deepanjali

Hi Deepanjali,
Can you please check on the output page the value of the cross section associated with your sample? It may be zero. The other option would be that you don't have any lepton in your event sample (check the cutflow in this case).
Regards,
Benjamin

Hi,
Final state of my channel has only four leptons which has good
cross-section for signal and small cross-section for background.
I am sending you the output PDF getting from MadAnalysis 5 along with the
mail, where I am getting only one plot for PT of lepton- but not for
M[lep1 lep2]. Kindly Check it what is my error.
Thanking You.

Deepanjali

Hi Deepanjali,
You need to proceed in two steps. Starting from the hep files
1. you run delphes with the atlas simulation card and get root files associated with each samples
2. you restart the program and analyze the root files
This should work.

Benjamin

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I am very new in the field of MA5. Can you please elaborate it more
descriptive way serially such that I can understand it easily.
Thanking you.

Hi,
I have found all required histograms when I write "set main.fastsim.
I have few confusions again.
Is it the correct way?
If I do analysis with these plots, how much accurate it is?
What is the condition to use .ROOt file for analysis?
What is the difference in reult if one does analysis by using .ROOt file and without .ROOt file?
Thanking you.

Deepanjali

Hi,
My problem in getting histograms for leptons and jets at a time is solved if I use delphesMA5tune instead of delphes in my script in madanalysis5. When I used root file generated by delphes package , then also I am not able to get all distributions. But with delphesMA5tune, problem can be solved without using root file.
Can you please tell me the way is correct or wrong?

Deepanjali

Hi,
Both should work, in principle. I cannot reproduce your bug.
Cheers,
Benj
